morning didn't prevent the Shovelers from feeling frisky.

Common Toads, Cley, 11th March2022. Just a few of the 100 or so I rescued off the A149
on Friday evening. Sadly, about 300 had already been squashed
between Cley and Salthouse. Look where you're going folks -
they're not dead leaves, they're toads!

Spoonbills, Cley, 28th February2022. These five, superb breeding-plumaged, newly arrived
adults spent just half-an-hour on Whitwell Scrape mid afternoon,
but still had time to feed, canoodle and sleep briefly before
they were flushed off by a bird-scarer or gunshot in the nearby
fields.
