Coots, Daukes' Hide, Cley, 28th February 2019. Half a dozen have returned to the reserve in recent days. Like Pochard and Tufted Duck, they too are absent from Cley Marsh in the winter these days.

Pochards and Tufted Ducks, Snipe's Marsh, Cley, 27th February 2019. Neither species is here in the winter these days, so these are spring migrants – as was the Chiffchaff in our garden today.

Long-eared Owl, Deeping St James, Lincolnshire, 25th February 2019. A well known roost for this scarce species, but the view is distant and obscured.

Long-billed Dowitcher, Frampton Marsh, Lincolnshire, 25th February 2019. I saw this bird minutes after it was found on 24th August. Today it was in a different plumage, but just as distant!

Green-winged Teal, with Common Teals, Frampton Marsh, Lincolnshire, 25th February 2019. Having twitched one at Druridge Bay yesterday, I found what may be the first for Frampton today!

Little Bunting, Weybourne Camp, 16th February 2019.

Lesser Whitethroat, Salthouse, 14th February 2019. This Lesser Whitethroat has been wintering in Salthouse, but it has been just as elusive as the Blakeney Turtle Dove: since it was first seen on Boxing Day, it has been seen on just 4 dates (including today).

Tawny Owl, North Elmham, Norfolk, 13th February 2019. Tawny Owls may be 'common & widespread', but they are rarely as easy to see as the popular bird that has been roosting behind the chapel ruins at North Elmham for some weeks now. It's near the top of the tallest old tree at TF988216.

Tundra Bean Goose, Blakeney, 9th February 2019. Several different Tundra Bean Geese have been showing amongst the 3,000-odd Pink-footed Geese feeding in the harvested beet field at Blakeney this week. The flock has been quite settled too as people have been careful not to disturb them.

Turtle Dove, Blakeney, 29th January 2019. This Turtle Dove has been in gardens in Blakeney since November, but it is incredibly elusive. I've spent many hours looking for it over the last 3 months and finally saw it on Tuesday. Fortunately for those that haven't, it is 'just' a European Turtle Dove rather than something rarer.

Common Scoters, Cley, 11th January 2019.

Great Black-backed Gull, Cley, 11th January 2019.

Glaucous Gull, Cley, 11th January 2019. Rather gruesome, but dead seal pups are a key food resource if you're an Arctic gull.
